The Chamber Winds performs a whimsical program of compositions that provide new twists on old classics. Faculty Artist Paul Sharpe is featured as bass soloist on Jean Francaix’s quirky “Mozart new-look,” a play on the themes in Mozart’s famous opera “Don Giovanni,” and celebrated soprano Lindsay Kesselman sings a wind ensemble arrangement of satirical cabaret songs by William Bolcom.

North Carolina's rich history comes to life in music inspired by the landscape and culture of this region. The concert features alumnus Nicholas Rich's “Little Simple Song” for two voices, banjo, guitar, fiddle and bass – a result of Nick’s partnership with bluegrass band Stray Local – as well as David Ludwig’s “Songs from the Bleeding Pines,” which tells the story of the rescue of North Carolina's longleaf pines.
Performers include Lindsay Kesselman, soprano; Immanuel Davis, flute; Oskar Espina Ruiz, clarinet; Janet Orenstein, violin; Brooks Whitehouse, cello; Dmitri Vorobiev, piano; Stephanie Foley Davis, mezzo soprano; Emily Damrel, bass and voice; Deena Rizkalla, fiddle; Greyson Leybourne, banjo; Nick Rich, guitar and mandolin; Saxton Rose, bassoon; Joseph Pecoraro, guitar; John R. Beck, marimba; and Paul Sharpe, bass.
